My Quest for the Obelisks of Rome

In Piazza Minerva this small obelisk sits on the back of an elephant, a combination created by Bernini in 1667. The obelisk was originally part of the nearby temple of Isis. The hieroglyphs relate to Apries, the last independent pharaoh of Egypt.
